The NHL is now officially on ice, with a brand new ad buy to promote the upcoming season.
On Friday, the NHL’s National Hockey League Network (NHLN) launched its NHL advertising campaign featuring a brand-new NHL logo.
It is the first official NHL advertising in the history of the league and comes as the league prepares for the 2014-15 season.
The NHLN will continue to show ads throughout the season, and will continue airing ads in the NHL Network’s new digital properties such as NHL GameCentre LIVE and NHL Central, with the new logo appearing at the top of the screen at every NHL home game.
The new logo also will be featured on NHLN’s website and on all NHL digital platforms.
The brand-first campaign by the NHL follows a new approach for the league that started last year, when the league’s commercial arm, NHLPA, unveiled the league-wide sponsorship model.
The league now has a partnership with several leading brands including Coca-Cola, Chevrolet, Intel, General Motors and Verizon Wireless.
These brands are paid to appear in ads in partnership with the NHLN.NHL Network’s ad campaign also features an official NHL logo, featuring the league logo in an all-white background with the league name and logo at the bottom.
The logo also features a new video message from NHLPA president Brian Burke, in which he calls the NHL an “inspiration for all of us” and says that this campaign “will help us get to where we want to go as an organization, as a business, as an industry and as an entertainment brand.”
Burke said the NHL is “taking an aggressive approach” to the campaign and will announce more details later this week.
The announcement marks the first time the NHL has ever officially sponsored an NHL advertisement in the digital era.
The partnership with NHLN was first announced in March, and was announced last year when the NHLPA and NHL signed a seven-year contract extension.
The agreement with the NFL also includes a two-year sponsorship agreement with NBC Sports and a five-year agreement with ESPN.
The deal with the Coca-Colas was announced in October.
The agreement with General Motors was announced at the same time.
The deal with Verizon Wireless is expected to be announced soon.
The first NHL advertising on the NHL network was seen in September with the unveiling of an official logo and ad campaign featuring the NHL logo on an all white background with a new logo at its top.
