By Megan McArdlePosted November 09, 2017 05:08:53With the election day in full swing and more than 40 million Americans tuned in to MSNBC for the second night in a row, the cable network has decided to start rolling out a new ad featuring some of the most powerful women in the country.
The ad, titled “We’re Not the Bosses,” will debut in the evening on MSNBC and other networks starting this evening.
It will air during live news coverage of the election and is set to be the first time a major cable network is airing an ad featuring women.
The commercial features women who have worked on behalf of women, including:Susan Sarandon, Susan Estrich, Michelle Obama, Jill Biden, and Chelsea Clinton.
The ads will be the latest effort by MSNBC to engage with women and their families during this election cycle.
The network has already shown ads featuring women during election coverage on MSNBC, including the infamous “Fashion Police” ad from 2016, and has also begun airing a new series called “Women in Politics,” in which women share stories about how they’ve overcome obstacles in their lives.
The show is also being produced by the New York Times and New York Magazine, which has been instrumental in promoting women’s representation in politics and other public spheres.
