Seahawks general manager John Schneider has made the move to sign defensive end Jeremy Lane, a move that could bring him $3.5 million in guaranteed money over the next four years.
Lane, who signed a one-year deal with the Seahawks in the offseason, is entering the final year of his rookie deal and will be a free agent after the season.
He had just two sacks in 2016 and will earn a base salary of $750,000 next season.
The 6-foot-4, 290-pound Lane recorded 1,500 total tackles, four forced fumbles, 11 sacks and 10 interceptions as a rookie.
He was selected by Seattle in the third round of the 2016 draft and has been playing in the Pro Bowl for the past two seasons.
He is set to become a free agency candidate in 2018.
