Google has been testing a new advertising offering that would allow advertisers to use photos to target ads, and in some cases, even remove the ads themselves.
The company is testing a photo editing tool called PhotoJ, which would allow users to edit a photo and then remove the offending part.
“The idea is that we’ll be able to bring in all of the filters and effects that people like to see in photos, and then we’ll just put it in the app and we’ll allow them to take a photo, and it will remove the part of the photo they don’t like,” Eric Shulman, a Google senior product manager, told VentureBeat.
PhotoJ is still in early testing, but the tool could be available in the first quarter of 2020.
Shulham told Venture Beat that the tool was in the works for “several years” before Google even thought about bringing it to market.
“We had a lot of ideas, and we thought about it for a long time,” he said.
“I don’t think we really thought about what it would look like.
But it looks like it’s coming.”
Shulmen also said that Google was working on a more granular photo editing application called PhotoPaint.
Google previously announced that it was working with Google+ to make PhotoPainted, and this new version could be one of the first products that the company makes available.
The app, which has been in testing since late last year, would allow the company to take photos and then apply the filters it wants to take, such as filters that would remove hair and facial features, but not remove the whole photo.
The feature is designed to work in conjunction with other apps that are already available.
In other words, you could use PhotoJ to apply a layer of filters on top of an image, and the app would remove those filters and apply a new layer of ones, but with more granularity.
Shula said that PhotoJ would have a feature similar to the way Google+ photos have been used for the past couple of years.
“If you were going to make a product for people to use in Google+, it would be a photo app,” Shulmans said.
ShULHAM also revealed that Google had been working with Instagram to make it easier for brands to reach Instagram users, with an option to add a photo of a brand to the account, as well as embed a video that would appear on the user’s feed.
“It’s just like we had with Facebook.
We had a photo gallery app.
It was a cool app, but it wasn’t as great as the Facebook photo gallery,” Shula added.
The new feature will likely be rolled out as part of Google+’s latest update to its mobile apps, which is due to roll out in the second half of 2020, though the company hasn’t shared any details about when it will roll out the new feature.
Google also revealed today that it will be launching an app that will allow users of Google+, Google+ Photos, and Google+ Videos to search for other people’s photos and videos.
“Today, you can use Google+ and Google Photos to find people’s pictures and videos,” Shumacher said.
This new feature is not new for Google, either.
The search feature was launched in May 2016, and since then, the company has rolled out several new features to its services, including its Photos app and the new Google+ Video service.
Shuler also noted that Google+ has seen an increase in traffic over the last few years.
Google+ users are now looking at YouTube more often, he said, but YouTube remains a dominant place for searches.
“People are searching for videos and photos on YouTube,” he added.
“But they’re also searching for things on Google+.
People are still looking at Google+, they’re looking for things in Google+.
So it seems like it is really important to the platform that YouTube is going to continue to grow.”
